Last Friday, the Sisters of Charity of New York, one of Jubilee USA’s newest Jubilee Congregations, hand delivered thousands of petitions to NBC Nightly News and ABC World News headquarters in New York urging them to start covering one of the largest banking scandals of our time – the LIBOR scandal.
Last week marked a momentous victory for Jubilee USA Network.
On Friday, September 28, the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved the second installment of nearly $2.7 billion from their windfall gold sale profits to support concessional lending to low-income nations through the Poverty Reduction and Growth Trust (PRGT) and extended a 0% interest rate that will make this trust available for future generations beyond 2014. This significant move is in conjunction with their approval of the first installment of $1.1 billion to do the same, totaling roughly $4 billion to go into the PRGT.
