The UN’s Open Working Group on Sustainable Development, which is the intergovernmental group mandated to come up with international sustainable development goals, is convened it’s general session at the UN in New York yesterday. Aldo Caliari, director of the Center of Concern’s Rethinking Bretton Woods Project and Jubilee Board Member gave a significant opening presentation. The South Centre and TWN’s Bhumika Muchala, the Marianist’s Brother Steve O’Neil and Jubilee’s own Eric LeCompte were invited to make special interventions.

In a few moments, Eric breaks down the financial crisis and notes its relationship to debt and tax issues. In this context he also addresses the International Monetary Fund, big banks, raises the issues of vulture funds and Caribbean debt relief.
