If you're like me, you've probably gotten a lot of emails asking for your support on "Giving Tuesday." So I'm sorry to add one more to your in-box, but I'll keep it short - and just share this one important statistic with you:

In 2015, Jubilee USA won $1.3 billion in debt relief for Chad, Grenada and Ebola-impacted West Africa. 

On our modest budget, $1.3 billion in relief means a $500 donation to Jubilee USA equals $1.3 million in new resources for vulnerable communities. $1.1 billion of the debt relief we won this year went to Chad, the globe's fourth-poorest country. More than half of Chad's citizens live in poverty and in 2012, 82,000 children in Chad died before their 5th birthday, the third-worst rate in the world. Refugees fleeing Boko Haram in Nigeria and the Darfur conflict in Sudan stream into Chad each day, further straining its resources. That's why Jubilee USA's work is so important. Debt relief builds schools and hospitals and funds clinics and ambulances. According to the World Bank, fewer children die of preventable diseases in countries that receive debt relief.

And yet your investment wins more than just debt relief. This year, Jubilee USA advanced bankruptcy protection for indebted countries through our work in the Caribbean and through a 136-6 vote at the UN General Assembly. We moved hundreds of faith communities to push for trade policies that protect people in poverty and won tax and transparency victories in Congress and in a global development agreement.
